We have established in the Part 1 of this articlehttps://networkofrevivalists.com/2023/02/01/understanding-grace-and-how-to-multiply-it/ that Grace is that enablement or empowerment which God supplies to enable you accomplish what you ordinarily couldn’t do. It is undeserved advantage that God gives to man to enable him function for Him. It is undeserved because you cannot qualify for it. God out of his own kindness makes available his grace to accomplish his purpose in your life. If you have been praying for the Grace of God to come upon your life, what you are actually seeking is divine enablement to perform beyond your human capacity. You must be specific on what you need Grace for. Do you require grace to live above sin? It could be for academics, ministry, giving, leadership, finances etc. As a Child of God you can receive grace for every area of your life where you need it. One thing we know for sure is that God will supply us the Grace we need if we ask, And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we have asked of Him.…(1 John 5:14-15). Hebrews 4:16 says So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most (NLT).
After we receive grace from the Lord, how do we cause that which we have received to increase or abound? Grace could be increased by God because of your attitude or posture towards it, by reason of use, and also through growth in the knowledge of God. On the matter of your attitude towards Grace the Bible says in James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Since Grace is God’s unmerited endowment, pride will cut you off completely from it. God will personally resist the proud but he would supply more grace to the humble. The key here is this: no matter how far God’s grace has lifted you in any area, don’t let pride kick in. Don’t sideline the grace of God and take credit for your exploits in business, music industry, ministry etc. Humility will open the door for grace to increase, …For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Grace can be increased by reason of use. When you start deploying the deposits of God in your life, those abilities will grow. The teaching grace will increase as you teach, healing grace will abound as you pray for the sick. Many people are waiting to have explosive power before they start doing something but unfortunately things do not work that way. Start with whatever ability God has supplied, that Grace will abound as you use it. In the parable of the talents, we learn very valuable lessons. Those who put their talents to use saw them being multiplied. The one who refused to use his talent remained stuck. If you want the Grace to win more souls start witnessing from where you are. Keep singing in that small church, the Singing Grace will keep exploding as you consistently engage it. For example through giving, we saw in the book of 2 Corinthians 9:8 that the grace to give abounded, And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. The Apostle Paul gave us a secret into his ministry that he maximized Grace through the use of it, But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me (1 Cor 15:10). Colossians 1:29 also says That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me. Brethren, to see Grace increase upon your life, begin to use it. I started putting the ideas God gave me into writing. As I continued doing this the grace to communicate the Word of God through writing has grown significantly. I receive insights very quickly as I study God’s word and I’m able to put them together in writing so easily.
The third avenue through which Grace can be increased as I discovered through the word of God is by growing in the Knowledge of God. Think of this: if you are a mechanic who fixes cars what do you think would happen if you learn more about cars? More knowledge about cars would mean more ability to fix them. A tailor or hairdresser who learns more about the latest styles and trends in the industry would become more skillful. It is the same way with Grace. The bible says concerning Jesus “For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace “(John 1:16). Grace upon grace simply means grace in increasing measures. This is received from the fullness of Christ. This means that growing or maturing in your knowledge of Christ through whose fullness you receive grace upon grace will cause grace to abound in your life. No wonder the Apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 1:2 May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord (NLT). What a revelation! I trust that this is stirring in you the hunger to grow in your knowledge of God.
Having received these truths, be blessed as you diligently put them into practice. The Lord Jesus said in John 13:17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
Shalom
