Beloved we are in that dispensation where the Bible spoke about that Knowledge shall increase: But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase (Daniel 12:4). Undoubtedly knowledge is increasing in all spheres of human learning at remarkable speeds. Not only would intellectual knowledge increase, divine knowledge according to the Bible would grow as well, For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). Knowledge is not gifted, it is sought after and learnt. The child of God who desires to flow in this current outburst of divine knowledge must give himself to reading. It is a sad thing to realize that many believers are very ignorant because they relegate reading to the background. They love to participate in all spiritual activities except reading. But we are instructed in the scriptures to read. Studying or reading becomes a cardinal way through which knowledge is accessed. The Apostle Paul gave instructions concerning reading. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine(1 Timothy 4:13).
You may love to pray but to have the right knowledge about prayer, you will have to study on prayer otherwise your long hours of prayer may not avail much. To flow in the grace of God you will have to gain knowledge about it. We are instructed to grow in our knowledge of the Lord Jesus, But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen (2 peter 3:18). But how do we grow in Knowledge? You cannot wish yourself into knowledge. You have to pursue it through diligent reading and searching of the scriptures and other relevant materials.
The Apostle Paul himself was a repository of knowledge because he gave himself to reading. When you come, be sure to bring the coat I left with Carpus at Troas. Also bring my books, and especially my papers(2 Timothy 4:13). The secrets of these men are contained in their letters. Beloved Paul was a reader.
Daniel, the man of wisdom and excellent spirit was a man of the books,…… in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the LORD through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem (Daniel 9:2). Daniel understood the times from the books he read.
Since you professed to be a Christian have you given yourself to searching the scriptures? How many books of the bible have you read? How many Christian materials have you read?
You want to get married, how many books on marriage have you read? You want to heal the sick, what have you read about it? Your finances are stagnant, have you searched for knowledge in this area?
Brethren it’s time to take life serious. If you lack knowledge in any area you will be deficient there. It’s time to up your game and commit to the discipline of studying. Receive grace to do this. Shalom.
Sincerely
Emmanuel Opoku Agyemang
